SOUND PANEL
Cast 3

For this cast we reintroduced the dowels as thin threaded rods so as to minimize the surface area of the dowel as well as to allow the dowel to move easily in the vertical direction.

The string was replaced with fishing wire strung through loop hooks at the ends of the form work.  Twisting the hooks changes the amount of tension on each string.  This method was successful in preventing the wires from being pushed completely aside as the plaster was poured in.

Framework:

 FIRST CAST

For the first cast we used a stiff fabric and added a layer of fabric and sand on top of the plaster cast to give more weight and depth the the indentations.  This attempt did not give us the depth of indentation that we aimed for and it also caused the plaster to crack.

SECOND CAST

For the second cast switched to the most flexible fabric to allow for greater indentation of the rods and wire.  We achieved more of the depth that we were aiming for and the cast came out smooth with no cracks.
